BRENTWOOD — Two men who allegedly stole two golf carts have been placed under arrest. Ryan L.
Freedle, 38 of Antioch, and Michael A. Martinez, 29 of Brentwood, were booked at the Martinez
Detention Facility. Freedle is ineligible for release on bond, while Martinez remains in custody in lieu of
$130,000 bond.
A witness reported seeing two men stealing the golf carts from Brentwood Golf Club on Summerset
Drive. The thefts occurred under cover of darkness on January 4. The suspects were observed by the
witness monitoring video surveillance cameras. The two suspects didn’t get far from the scene of the
crime and the police recovered the two stolen golf carts.
Brentwood PD responded to the golf club at 2:30 a.m. An officer deployed an aerial drone to search
for the suspects who were still in the vicinity. One of the men was observed abandoning a golf cart and
attempting to flee on foot. Officers on the ground located and arrested Freedle at 4:22 a.m. The
second suspect was found hiding nearby in front of a residence. Martinez was placed under arrest at
4:58 a.m.
Brentwood police said in a prepared statement, “The suspects were arrested for vehicle theft,
possession of burglary tools, probation violation, outstanding warrants, and other related charges.
Freedle was on probation for burglary and grand theft, and Martinez had several outstanding
misdemeanor and felony warrants.”
