BRENTWOOD — An 18-year-old woman from Concord is in custody for an attempted murder in
Brentwood. Ty’Jae Dukes remains ineligible for release on bond, pending her next scheduled court
hearing on October 24.
Dukes allegedly shot a 17-year-old male who survived his life-threatening injuries. The shooting
occurred on September 19 in a residential neighborhood on Sand Creek Road, east of Stoney Creek
Drive. Brentwood officers responded to the scene at 8:44 p.m. Police administered first aid to the
gunshot victim, who was later transported to a hospital for additional medical treatment.
An armored vehicle was deployed as police searched for the suspect and the firearm used in the
shooting. Meanwhile, several individuals including witnesses fled to a nearby residence on Brush
Creek Drive, following the shooting.
A SWAT team, officers and detectives collaborated the ensuing inquiry. Six persons were detained.
Investigators spoke with the victim and witnesses, which resulted in Dukes being identified as shooting
suspect. Brentwood PD described the investigation as “swift and meticulous.” Dukes was placed
under arrest on September 20 at 4:30 a.m. The firearm that she allegedly used was recovered and booked into evidence.
The following charges were filed subsequently against Dukes for:
* Attempted murder
* Intentional discharge of a firearm
* Assault with a semiautomatic firearm
* Carrying an unregistered loaded firearm
