Arrest Made in Davis Drive-By Shooting

“On Friday morning, March 22, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Davis Police Department received several 911 calls reporting sounds of gunshots near the 2400 block of Moore Boulevard. Officers quickly responded and determined that an argument had occurred between a group of people who were known to each other. As some of the parties drove away, a male subject involved in the incident fired 2-3 shots at the vehicle. The parties in the vehicle were not located and it is unknown at this time if anyone was injured during the incident. The subject who discharged the firearm was located on the scene by officers and identified as Lovell Jones, a 40-year-old male out of Davis. A firearm was also recovered.

Mr. Lovell was arrested for PC 246, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and was lodged at the Yolo County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation and details may change as more information is discovered. The Department believes there is currently not a threat to public safety.
