Lassen County: Weapons, Narcotics, Explosive Devices Reportedly Found in Storage Unit

A Lassen County man with a previous felony conviction is in custody for the alleged possession of narcotics and several weapons.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, patrol deputies responded to a storage unit on Saturday, February 24, and made contact with Anthony Kauwe, 46, of Westwood, whom they had discovered was allegedly in violation of a domestic violence protective order.

Deputies searched Kauwe, who has a prior felony conviction, and reportedly found him to be in possession of an unspecified controlled substance, ammunition, and tear gas. Kauwe was ultimately taken into custody.

On Saturday, March 9, Lassen County deputies served a search warrant at a storage unit registered to Kauwe, where they reportedly found “several firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, fentanyl, scales, and explosive devices.” The Shasta County Interagency Bomb Squad responded to take possession of the explosive devices for disposal.

Kauwe’s case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office with charges including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an explosive device, possession of an assault weapon, and felon in possession of ammunition.

Kauwe remains in custody at the Lassen County jail, the Sheriff’s Office said.
