Burglary and Vehicle Theft Thwarted in Red Bluff; Suspect Apprehended

“On February 6, 2024 at about 9:00 pm, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a 911 call regarding two subjects with flashlights trespassing in the area of E Canal Rd and Tyler Rd. While deputies were en-route to the area, the reporting party relayed the subjects appeared to have broke into a shop building, activated an alarm, and were stealing a company vehicle. K9 Blaze was on duty and immediately responded to the area to assist.

Officers with the CHP – Red Bluff and CHP – Northern Division Air Operations were also requested to search the area for the suspects. Deputies located the stolen vehicle parked in an orchard, however it was not occupied.

With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Unit, Deputies were able to locate and apprehend one of the suspects, Damien Jones age 34 of Red Bluff, who was on foot and hiding in a nearby orchard.

Mr. Jones is on active Post Release Community Supervision and had an active felony warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with Burglary and Taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the California Highway Patrol- Red Bluff and Northern Air Operations for their quick response and assistance with this incident.
