Theft arrest at Dunes Shopping Center

On January 19, 2024, around 1 PM, Marina Police Officers responded to a reported theft at the Dunes Shopping Center. According to initial reports, the suspect fled the scene in a black vehicle following the incident.

Subsequently, officers from the California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) Police Department successfully located the vehicle in close proximity to the scene of the crime. Upon further investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Sergio Gonzalez, who matched the description of the suspected perpetrator.

Gonzalez was promptly apprehended and found to be in possession of stolen property valued at over $1,000, along with tools commonly associated with burglary activities. Without incident, he was placed under arrest and taken into custody by law enforcement authorities.

Following his apprehension, Gonzalez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges related to burglary under California Penal Code section 459, as well as possession of burglary tools under section 466 of the Penal Code.
