MILL VALLEY – Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an armed robbery suspect with help from a car rental agency. His arrest follows a three-week investigation of a robbery of the Chevron gas station at 580 Redwood Highway.

The gas station was robbed during the evening of December 29. The suspect dressed in black and wearing a black mask pointed a pistol at a clerk and demanded money. The terrified clerk handed over all the money from the cash register.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene of the crime at 7:36 p.m. However, the suspect fled before deputies could arrive at the gas station. Fortunately, no one was injured during this armed robbery.

Detectives examined surveillance video of the getaway car used by the suspect. A rental car agency served with a search warrant identified the person who rented this car. He is Angelo W. Simmons, 31, of Vacaville.

Simmons was arrested on January 18. Simmons was booked at Marin County Jail, where he was held in lieu of $75,000 bond. However, he is now no longer listed in custody.

Working in collaboration with other agencies, including Vacaville police, deputies apprehended Simmons without further incident. He now faces charges that include robbery PC 211. If Simmons is convicted, he faces up to 9 years in state prison.
