“On January 18, 2024, a Porterville Police Officer was in the 200 block of West Putnam Avenue when he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The officer contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Miguel Gallegos. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded P-80 style un-serialized handgun. The firearm had been modified to convert the semi-automatic style firearm into a fully automatic weapon. Gallegos is a previously convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Gallegos was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility and is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
