Multiple Arrests Made Following Consecutive Disturbances on South Central Avenue
VISALIA, CA – At approximately 9:55 p.m., Visalia Police officers responded to the 1400 block of South Central Avenue in response to reports of a disturbance involving a group of approximately 40 individuals attending a candlelight vigil. Upon arrival, officers engaged with the crowd and arrested one adult male on suspicion of public intoxication. Law enforcement personnel directed the group to disperse from the roadway and remain peaceful. Officers monitored the location until the gathering decreased in size and the area cleared.
Shortly after departing, officers were dispatched to a nearby apartment complex following reports that members of the group had reconvened and were making verbal threats to residents. Upon arrival, officers contacted several individuals outside the building. During the response, one adult male was arrested for public intoxication after refusing to cooperate with officers, and an adult female was arrested for resisting arrest after attempting to interfere with law enforcement personnel.
Later that evening, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Visalia Police Department and the Visalia Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at the same apartment complex. Emergency responders evaluated the property and determined that the alarm was false and had been manually activated by an unidentified individual before emergency personnel arrived.
