Two people were arrested after a call of shots fired reportedly led to the discovery of an operational butane honey oil lab in a residential area of Kern County.

According to a press release by the county Sheriff’s office, deputies had been dispatched on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 16, to investigate reports of shots fired in the area of Green Street and Clay Mine Road in Edwards.

As they arrived in the area, deputies reportedly saw two individuals running into a residence on the 19000 block of Green Street. Upon further investigation, the deputies discovered an illegal butane honey oil lab, as well as around 1,800 pounds of marijuana and ten pounds of processed wax.

Deputies also located and recovered a stolen vehicle at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The two individuals, identified as Jaydon Winston (23) and Gage Dworniczak (23), were taken into custody on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sale, maintaining a residence for the illegal sales of drugs, cultivation of marijuana, and conspiracy.

Authorities have since dismantled the lab, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
