In October 2023, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into a series of identity theft and credit card fraud incidents. After an extensive inquiry, Detectives and Criminal Analysts pinpointed Christopher Young and Lacey Nelson, both residents of San Francisco, as potential suspects linked to the fraudulent activities.

On December 20th, Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in San Francisco associated with Lacey Nelson. The search yielded a significant discovery, as Detectives uncovered numerous pieces of stolen mail and credit cards traced back to El Dorado County. Additionally, the law enforcement team found several embossing machines, devices commonly used in the creation of counterfeit credit cards.

The investigation is ongoing, with Detectives diligently working to contact additional victims for follow-up reports. The suspects, Christopher Young and Lacey Nelson, were not present at the residence during the execution of the search warrant, and as of now, they remain at large. Active warrants for their arrest have been issued.

Law enforcement officials urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects or relevant details regarding the case to come forward. Detective Driscoll can be reached at 530-642-4709, while Detective Flores can be contacted at 530-642-4710.
