MARTINEZ— California Highway Patrol (Golden Gate Division) officers arrested two drivers for two separate fatal hit-and-run accidents. Both Contra Costa County residents were subsequently released from the Martinez Detention Facility.

Javier Dominguez-Ramirez, 32, of Pittsburg, was arrested on November 22. Dominguez-Ramirez is allegedly responsible for a crash on westbound State Route 4. The accident occurred near Discovery Bay on November 16, west of Newport Drive.

A pedestrian who suffered fatal injuries was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation conducted by the CHP Contra Costa Office in Martinez culminated in the arrest of Dominguez-Ramirez. The charges he faces include felony hit-and-run in this ongoing inquiry.

The second suspect was allegedly drunk when he crashed into another vehicle on the night of November 23. This collision happened near the intersection of Treat Boulevard and Oak Grove Road in Concord. An 86-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit died after he was transported to a hospital.

Again, the driver responsible fled from the scene. The investigation of this accident revealed a second related collision also occurred near the intersection of Oak Grove and Ryan roads. The driver deemed responsible was later arrested by CHP Oakland officers.

Damian Lopez-Avelino, a 19-year-old resident of Concord, was driving without a license. Lopez-Avelino faces charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and DUI causing serious bodily injury. His other charges include hit-and-run with injury.
