Merced Police Seek Public’s Help in Highway 59 Confrontation, Shooting Investigation

“Merced – On 7-7-23 at approximately 1:40 AM, Merced Police investigated a shooting in the 3100 block of N. Highway 59 where one man was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
On July 7, 2023, Merced Police were called to the 3100 block of N. Highway 59 for a disturbance. While officers were heading to the call, they received additional information that a man was shot. The man was identified as Michael Mcintosh (39) and he was found to have been suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mcintosh was Medi flighted to a Modesto area hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
Investigators were able to locate surveillance video of the incident. The video shows Mcintosh involved in verbal argument with several subjects who were walking out of the store. Mcintosh got into his vehicle and drove at the group of subjects who were getting into their car. Mcintosh rammed the groups car with his own vehicle, and he struck one of the subjects with his car and ultimately hit the building.
The man who was struck by the car pulled out a handgun and fired several shots into Mcintosh vehicle striking him several times. The group of subjects got into their vehicle and fled the area. Investigators have been actively following up on this investigation and they are asking anyone with information to contact the Merced Police Department.
