Merced – Merced PD Gang Unit arrests gang member in possession of a firearm and narcotics during a probation search.

On June 11th, 2022 at approximately 4:29 PM, The Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit conducted a Probation search in the 2400 Block of K Street. Officer Arnulfo Centeno developed information that Armando Lara-Mendoza (18) was in possession of a firearm and narcotics. Lara is a known gang member and on Merced County Probation.

Officers were able to locate a loaded .40 caliber firearm along with fentanyl pills. Lara was booked into Merced County Jail for prohibited person in possession of a firearm, gang member in possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics.
