“In April of 2023, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit (MCU) Detectives began an investigation regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) being distributed in the Redding area. The CSAM involved digital photographs and videos of a 16-year-old female, which were sexual in nature. During the investigation, Detectives identified 29-year-old Michael Rizwan Chaudhry of Redding, being involved, and possessing the images.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Chaudhry for possession of CSAM. On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, Detectives, with the assistance of the Shasta Interagency Narcotic Task Force (SINTF), and a Redding Police Department Investigator, served a search warrant at Chaudhry’s residence, located on the 3600 block of Churn Creek Road, Redding. While serving the search warrant, detectives arrested Chaudhry and his brother, 29-year-old Jason Layne Robinson of Redding, who obstructed/resisted detectives. While serving the search warrant, detectives located packaged marijuana, indicative of sales.
Chaudhry was booked into the Shasta County Jail on the arrest warrant for the following charges: 311.11(a) PC – Possess Obscene Matter of Minor in Sexual Act and 148(a)(1) PC – Obstruct/Resist Officer. Bail set at $25,000.
Robinson was booked into the Shasta County Jail for the following charges: 148(a)(1) PC – Obstruct/Resist Officer. Bail set at $1,000.
A separate criminal case will be filed to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office against Chaudhry for marijuana sales. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Redding Police Department and SINTF with their assistance in this investigation.
