“On Friday, December 31st, 2021, at 2:06 P.M., Redding Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Park Marina Drive and State Route 44 for multiple reports of a female wearing a bullet proof vest and firing shots from a handgun.

Officers arrived in the area of the River Inn, an abandoned motel located in the 1800 block of Park Marina Drive, and made contact with two male maintenance workers. Both stated they were in the process of repairing a broken window at the abandoned motel when they were confronted by an unknown female wearing a bullet proof vest and armed with a handgun. The female, later identified as 27-year-old Jordan Windberry of Redding, accused the males of breaking into the abandoned building and threatened them with the handgun. When both victims tried to explain they were hired to perform repairs, Windberry shot two times toward SR-44. After firing the shots, Windberry told the men she was going to retrieve a rifle and fled in a southerly direction.

Moments later, Windberry called dispatch from her residence in the 2000 block of Park Marina Drive and reported she had fired warning shots to stop subjects from breaking into a nearby property.

Redding Police responded to Windberry’s residence and took her into custody. Windberry was transported to the Detective Division and interviewed, at which time she stated she was wearing her bullet proof vest and armed with a handgun while cleaning transient camps near her home, when she observed what appeared to be two men breaking into the abandoned motel. She approached the men with her handgun displayed and attempted to scare them off the property. When they did not leave, she fired two warning shots and fled the scene.

Detectives served a search warrant at Windberry’s residence and seized a handgun, two rifles and body armor. Windberry was booked at the Shasta County Jail for assault with a firearm, brandishing a firearm and criminal threats.”
