“On November 19th, 2020 at approximately 5:02 A.M., Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the 2200 block of Gold Street to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle that just occurred.

Officers spoke with Parrish Cremeans, 58 years of Redding, who reported he is a hunting guide and was preparing for a scheduled turkey hunting trip with a juvenile diagnosed with cancer.  After loading his green 2012 Dodge pickup truck with the essentials for the trip, he briefly returned to his residence to grab his coffee, leaving the unoccupied vehicle running outside.

Once inside, Cremeans heard the sound of his truck being driven away and exited to find his vehicle missing.  Several firearms were inside the vehicle at the time of theft.

Within approximately 34 minutes, a passing motorist noticed a matching vehicle in a ditch off of the road, located near Canyon Creek Road and Starburst Drive, and reported the observation to SHASCOM Dispatch.

Officers responded and found the stolen vehicle unoccupied.  Firearms and hunting gear were also missing from the vehicle.  Officers requested the assistance of CHP helicopter, utilized an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and Police K9 to search for the suspect.  K9 Otto led Officers to the wooded area located west of Starburst Drive.

During the track, K9 Otto located several items stolen from the vehicle, including hunting gear and all outstanding firearms.  The items appeared to have been hidden or concealed, as if the suspect intended on returning to the area to collect them.  The vehicle, firearms, and hunting gear were returned to Cremeans.  No suspect was located during the search.

This case is currently under investigation.  With the recent change to cooler temperatures, the Redding Police Department would like to remind residents against leaving their running vehicles unattended.”
