Shasta County Man Reportedly Caught with Illegal Weapons, Ammunition During Probation Compliance Sweep

A Shasta County man was recently arrested for the alleged possession of numerous firearms, some illegal, during a probation compliance sweep earlier this week.

According to a press release by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the office’s AB109 team, with assistance from Enforcement Division deputies and probation officers from the Probation Department, carried out a “probation compliance sweep” at various locations in the county.

At one point, authorities contacted 42-year-old Kevin Humphries on the 10000 block of Gaucho Road in Redding. Deputies discovered that Humphries — on active probation for fleeing or eluding law enforcement and vehicle theft, and a convicted felon prohibited from owning or possessing firearms — was in possession of live ammunition.

Humphries reportedly also had an active warrant for violating his probation.

Deputies searched the home and reportedly discovered 24 rifles and shotguns, some of which were illegal assault rifles. Deputies also located more shotgun and rifle ammunition.

Humphries was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of an assault weapon, and probation violation.
