Solano County Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder in Vacaville Shooting

“On March 24, police arrested 57-year-old Patrick Clay of Vacaville for the shooting of a man that occurred on March 23 in Fairfield.

On that day, Community Action Team members were near Delaware and Jefferson Street, when they heard multiple gunshots. Upon investigating, they found a gunshot victim in the 800 block of Delaware Street. First aid was immediately rendered to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital.

A perimeter search did not yield the  the culprit, who had fled, but he was captured on video. Investigators worked quickly to identify him as Clay and a BOLO with his description was issued.

On Friday, Fairfield Police Department’s Special Operations Team (SOT) tracked Clay to a Vacaville residence where the Vacaville Police Department’s SWAT took him into custody without incident.

Clay has been booked into Solano County Jail for attempted murder and weapons related charges. The victim is in stable condition.

The investigation into this shooting, including motive, is ongoing. Accordingly, no further details can be released at this time.”
