Turning the ancient adage hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, the February 8th and 28th arrests of Piru residents Adrian Patino Hernandez, 20, and his cousin, 18-year-old Piru resident Daniel Avalos Hernandez may be an indication that the jealousy of a spurned young man can indeed turn into fury.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Will Hollowell, in the opening days of February, Adrian Hernandez discovered that his 17-year-old girlfriend was somewhat less than loyal while conducting “a social media relationship with a male party.” Apparently unaware of the other ancient adage there are more fish in the sea, Hernandez recruited his cousin Daniel to go with him to Filmore’s Two Rivers Park where he planned to meet his girlfriend’s social media contact “under a false pretense.”

Once at the park, the Hernandez cousins “attempted to rob the victim at knifepoint,” but the victim escaped and promptly contacted law enforcement. While he was doing that, the Hernandez cousins “vandalized the victim’s property by slashing the tires of his vehicle.”

With the victim’s description of his assailants, Deputies attached to the Fillmore Detective Bureau and the VCSD West County Special Enforcement Unit made contact with Adrian Hernandez on February 8th and arrested him. He was charged with attempted robbery, felony conspiracy, and felony accessory to a crime and “has since been released on his own recognizance.”

Daniel Hernandez was contacted at his place of employment on February 28th, found to be in possession of an unregistered firearm, and was transported to Ventura County Jail where he was booked on the robbery, accessory, and conspiracy charges. He remains in custody with his bail set at $110,000.
