Fresno County Man Arrested on Suspicion of DUI, Hit-and-Run After Striking Patrol Car

On the morning of Sunday, February 26, a driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after allegedly striking a Clovis Police car that was stopped for a collision.

The incident occurred just after 1 AM when officers were handling a traffic collision on Willow just north of Gettysburg, police said in a press release.

According to the report, a Clovis PD officer was parked with the emergency lights flashing to block northbound Willow at Gettysburg when another motorist ignored cones that were placed out and the police car’s emergency lights, drove through the intersection, and struck the rear driver side bumper of the officer’s patrol car. The officer was still in the vehicle.

The driver did not stop, but was pulled over just a block away by another Clovis officer.

The driver, identified as 53-year-old Choua Xiong of Fresno, was booked into Fresno County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. No one was injured in the collision, and the officer was back in duty by that night, police said.
