Man Serving Time for Pimping Faces New Charges for Alleged Rape of 15-Year-Old

A Shasta County man currently in serving a sentence for pimping is now facing new charges for allegedly raping an intoxicated 15-year-old girl.

In a press release by the county Sheriff’s Office, officials announced new charges against 28-year-old Anthony Augustus of Redding. Augustus has been in custody since being convicted of pimping in August of 2022.

Augustus then became the subject of a new investigation in November of 2022, when he was identified as the primary suspect in the rape of an intoxicated 15-year-old girl. Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives were later able to corroborate the allegations after discovering that Augustus had filmed the rape and shared it to his social media accounts.

On Friday, February 10, Augustus was re-booked on new charges of rape of an intoxicated minor, production of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and forced oral copulation.

Augustus was arraigned on February 14th, with bail set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing has been set for February 23, the Sheriff’s Office said.
