A suspect in a tragic fatal DUI car crash that happened on Christmas Eve is in custody.

At around 10 pm on Christmas Eve Officers of the Fairfield Police Department responded to a 2 vehicle collision on East Tabor Ave and Railroad Ave. All of the people in one of the vehicles were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. One of the victims sadly did not survive. The victim’s name has not been released out of consideration to the family during this difficult time.

The suspect, identified as Dominic Lyons of Vallejo, was the driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash. During the investigation it was discovered that Lyons was under the influence at the time of the collision. He was arrested and booked on related charges.

A rumor started in relation to this tragedy that there had also been a shooting involved. The Fairfield PD would like to clarify that there was no shooting and the only crime committed was a tragic fatal accident caused by an intoxicated driver. Fairfield PD Facebook page stated, “That rumor is FALSE. While speculation is bound to happen following any tragic incident, the dissemination of misinformation like this not only frustrates the investigation but also compounds the trauma experienced by grieving friends and family.”

The holidays are meant to be a joyous time to spent with the people who mean the most to us. Our hearts go out to the family involved and to any family who lost a loved one this year.
