Vacaville police arrest second suspect in homicide

VACAVILLE – Vacaville police arrested the girlfriend of a suspect in the homicide that took place in July on the 1500 block of Alamo Drive.

Danaya Jordan, 20, was visiting her boyfriend, Rico Espitia, in the Solano County Jail on Oct. 8 when she was taken into custody. She was charged with being an accessory to murder and for participation in a criminal street gang and booked into Solano County Jail.

According to Vacaville Detective Vince Nadashdy, Jordan has no previous arrests and no criminal record.

On July 30, officers responded to a shooting that occurred at the above named location. The victim was identified as Quinten Nears, who died at the scene. On August 25, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Espitia in connection with the homicide. Espitia was captured a few days later in Ocean Shores, Wash., and extradited back to Solano County.

During the ongoing investigation into the homicide, detectives obtained information that suggested Jordan assisted in Espitia’s escape from arrest and tampered with evidence. Jordan, of Vacaville, was reportedly Espitia’s girlfriend at the time of the murder.
