Hit-and-run killer arrested in Vallejo

On Monday, December 17, Vallejo resident Mark Allen Reeves, 48 years old, was arrested for felony hit-and-run, and for manslaughter with gross negligence, also a felony.

Mrs. Funes was crossing Alameda Street at this intersection when she was hit by the Mazda. The Driver fled the scene and was arrested a month later

The charges stem from a fatal collision that took place on November 16, 2012 on Alameda at Virginia Streets in Vallejo. Clementina Funes, 88 years old, was hit while crossing Alameda street and sustained serious injuries. The driver fled the scene. Mrs. Funes was flown to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where she later died of injuries she suffered as a result of the hit-and-run accident.

Debris located at the site of the accident was identified as coming from a silver Mazda Protégé of the possible model years 2001 to 2003.  The vehicle involved, a 2003 Protégé , was later located in Walnut Creek. Investigation into the accident revealed that Mark Allen Reeves was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the hit-and-run.

Mr. Reeves turned himself in to Vallejo PD on December 17.

Anyone with further information about this incident or the suspect is asked to contact Officer George Simpson of the Vallejo Police Department at 707-648-4014.
