VACAVILLE -Just after 4:00 p.m. on May 15th the Vacaville Police responded to a call made by some alert employees at a store in the outlets.

Apparently the employees were helping a customer return items when they realized the “customer” matched the description of a suspect who had shoplifted from one of their sister stores.

So when the suspect left, the employees called police and reported the suspect’s name and physical description, as well as a description of her vehicle.

Officers spotted the vehicle driving on I-80 west.

34-year-old Antioch resident  Crystal Sandling was identified as the thief. It turns out she had “multiple active misdemeanor and felony probation terms out of Contra Costa county as well as an outstanding felony warrant for burglary out of Sacramento county.”

Inside Sandling’s vehicle officers found “a large amount of brand-new, tags-still-attached, no-receipt clothing items in the trunk.”

Sandling faces charges that include shoplifting, probation violation and her outstanding warrant.
