Shasta County Deputies Chase Down Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Driver and Passenger

Two people allegedly caught driving a stolen vehicle in Shasta County were arrested after abandoning the vehicle and trying to flee on foot, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

On the morning of Monday, October 17, deputies spotted a vehicle — a 2006 Ford F250 pickup — that had been reported stolen out of the Redding area near Cloverdale and Clear Creek Roads. The driver sped away eastbound on Clear Creek after clocking the deputies, who gave chase at high speed.

The driver finally stopped the vehicle near Dredge Lane, at which point both they and their lone passenger abandoned the vehicle on foot. Deputies again pursued the two suspects, apprehending one after finding them hiding in a nearby ravine and another near the Clear Creek Gorge overlook, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Daniel William Harrington of Redding and 40-year-old Brandt Gabriel Clifford of Sacramento.

Both were arrested and booked at the Shasta County jail — Harrington on charges of receiving stolen property, evading a peace officer, and obstructing or resisting arrest, and Clifford on obstructing or resisting an officer.

The vehicle was returned to its registered owner, the Sheriff’s Office said.
