In a prepared statement Oakley police said. “Officers arrived within one minute of being dispatched and determined the store clerk was robbed at gunpoint.”

The suspect fled with the money from the register and cigarettes. He drove away in a black Honda, which was recorded by surveillance cameras, including the license plate number.

Information about the getaway car was broadcast by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. The car was spotted on Highway 4 by Antioch police, who pursued it.

The driver identified as Bordelon lost control of the car and crashed. Bordelon was arrested at the scene. The stolen property was recovered along with a firearm.

The store clerk pointed out Bordelon as the robbery suspect. Bordelon was examined at a hospital for medical clearance, before being transported to the  Martinez Detention Facility.

Moreover, it seems that the vehicle was stolen during a carjacking in Antioch on the previous day. The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Bordelon was booked for robbery, carjacking, felon in possession of a firearm, and evading police disregarding safety. His case is being reviewed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
