“On the evening of September 13, 2022, Sutter Creek PD contacted an Amador High School student who reported coming into possession of a social media post that suggested an act of violence would occur in the near future.

The threat did not name Amador HS, or any schools for that matter.

Because it was received by an Amador HS student, we worked closely with Amador HS administrators and the Superintendent to investigate the partial name that was listed on the post, and to see if there was any connection to our community.

A similar partial name match was found in school records. Officers from the Sutter Creek Police Department and a deputy from the Amador Sheriff’s Department went to the home of that student with the partial name match, met with the student and the parents, and after conducting an investigation, DETERMINED THAT THE STUDENT WAS NOT INVOLVED.

Additional information was discovered that an east coast community has been investigating this same thread. SCPD staff worked with the law enforcement department in that community and confirmed that the post that had been shared with the Amador HS student was related to a series of incidents that occurred in that community, not Amador County.

We thank the dedicated school administrators who partnered with us in this investigation and recognize the understandable stress and anxiety that these types of matters can bring to a community.”
