Suspect Arrested in Connection to Fatal Stabbing

HAYWARD— Chad D. Williams, a 24-year-old resident of Hayward, has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a man to death. The victim was killed on the morning of July 23.

Officers responded shortly before 8 a.m. to a report of a “man down” on the 24000 block of Amador Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive man. The victim later identified as 67-year-old Thomas Boyd sustained injuries consistent with being stabbed.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. Unfortunately, they were unable to save the man’s life The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the ensuing investigation, Williams was identified as the suspect responsible for fatally stabbing the victim. An arrest warrant was issued for Williams, who surrendered himself 11 hours later at Hayward police headquarters.

Williams was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. He remains in custody ineligible for release on bond, pending a plea hearing on August 19.

Charges have been filed against Williams for murder and use of a deadly weapon. In addition, he faces eight other felony charges.

Williams has had prior problems with the law. In 2020, he was convicted of assault with a force likely to cause great bodily injury. In this case stemming from a sexual assault, he was sentenced to probation, which has been revoked.
