BERKELEY —Deante D. Davis, 36, is again wearing an orange jumpsuit at Santa Rita Jail. Davis who roams Berkeley has been arrested 41 times since 2014, including most recently for indecent exposure.

His latest arrest is for allegedly masturbating outside a fraternity residence on the evening of July 19. Davis is being held in custody in lieu of $35,000 bond, pending a pretrial hearing on August 1.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of Piedmont Avenue, where they say they found Davis masturbating. Davis is a convicted sex offender, with numerous prior arrests for failing to properly register as a sex offender.

After speaking with witnesses, officers learned the suspect entered the fraternity house through an open door. After residents confronted him, he walked outside and allegedly started masturbating.

When officers searched his belongings, they found suspected methamphetamine, as well as drug and sex paraphernalia. Incidentally, Davis has prior arrests on his record for possession of controlled substances.

Davis was subsequently charged on July 21 with indecent exposure and several felony enhancements, including violent conduct. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for giving false information to an officer.

Davis has been arrested four times this year, including arrests for burglary, trespassing, and possession of a controlled substance. Last year, he was arrested seven times, including arrests for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

Most of his other arrests have been for failure to register as a sex offender and for possession of illicit drugs.
