Felon Arrested Again – Charged with Shooting at a Woman Driving on I-980

OAKLAND — A felon with numerous prior arrests and criminal convictions has been arrested and charged for a freeway shooting. Trearl T. Malone, 44 of Oakland is accused of shooting multiple rounds at a car traveling on I-980.

On November 2 shortly before 12:30 p.m., a woman driving through Oakland called 911 to report gunfire hitting her car. Fortunately, no one was injured.California Highway Patrol’s special investigations unit responded to the scene. CHP detectives later identified Malone as the suspected shooter.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Malone. CHP requested assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force to search for him. U.S. Marshals located and arrested Malone on November 4.

Two loaded pistols were located during a search of Malone’s vehicle. Marshals confiscated a 9 mm pistol with an extended magazine and .40 caliber pistol from Malone.

His vehicle also had a bullet hole in the windshield, which authorities determined was shot from inside the vehicle.

Malone was booked for attempted murder and violation of a domestic relations court order, with prior violations.

Subsequently, he was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle and assault with a semi-automatic firearm. In addition, he is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

In October 2017, Malone was sentence to three years in prison for corporal injury to a relationship partner. Malone also has prior convictions for possession of controlled substances and thefts.

His most recent arrest is the 16 th time that Malone has been arrested. His prior arrests involved drugs, false imprisonment, kidnapping and illegal weapons possession.
