A 19-Year-Old Man on Probation is Arrested for Another Robbery

FREMONT — A man on probation with prior arrests for violent felonies is behind bars again. Lucio J. Soto, 19 of Richmond, is ineligible for release on bond following his latest arrest for robbery.

Soto is one of two men who allegedly robbed a victim intending to sell a video game console. Soto’s arrest was announced on January 27 by Fremont police.

Soto is being housed at Santa Rita Jail and a second suspect is still being sought. The robbery occurred November 12 at a parking lot on the 35000 block of Fremont Boulevard. The unwitting victim showed up at 8:30 p.m. with the game console in the trunk of his car.

Soto was with the victim, according to police, when the second suspect drove by in a car and pointed a gun at the victim. Then Soto allegedly stole the console and drove away with the second suspect.

Detectives identified Soto as the first suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained for Soto, who was on probation for a firearms conviction in 2019.

Fremont detectives arrested Soto at his home on January 12, with assistance from Richmond police. He is scheduled to appear for a hearing at the East County Hall of Justice on February 18.

In addition, Soto has another unrelated criminal case pending, involving an attempted murder in July 2020. Soto also has prior arrests for home invasion robbery, robbery, possession of stolen property, and numerous firearms
violations.

Anyone with information concerning the game console case or crimes involving these two suspects can call Fremont police. Contact Fremont detective Troy Roberts at 510-790-6900 or email troberts@fremont.gov.
