Redding Police have arrested a man in connection to a suspected drug-related incident gone awry.

Officers had responded to the 3500 block of Ricardo Avenue on Friday, July 8, to investigate reports of a shooting. The victim, a 40-year-old man, was found at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Investigators soon identified the suspected shooter as 23-year-old Richard Hanna, whom they allege met up with and attempted to solicit drugs and money from the victim, then fought with and ultimately shot him when he declined.

Hanna was located at an apartment on Azoulay Court and taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm. He was booked at the Shasta County jail.
