“The Redwood City Police Department’s Street Crimes Suppression Team conducted an investigation regarding a subject who was suspected to be involved in soliciting minors for lewd purposes.
The investigation provided detectives with enough evidence to arrest 63-year old Thomas Hemmenway, for the following felonies:
PC 288.3 contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense
PC 288.4 (b) arranging to meet a minor for a lewd or lascivious act
Hemmenway was booked into SMCJ for the above criminal charges. Hemmenway is a registered sex offender, and in addition to the on-view felony sex offences committed in the presence of investigating detectives, additional charges will be sought for violations related to his previous sex offender history.
A search warrant of his residence was executed where electronic items were seized. In the days to come, Redwood City Detectives will be searching the seized electronic devices for any other evidence of sexual crimes and/or further victims. No children were harmed, endangered, or victimized during the course of this investigation.
