Illinois Woman Allegedly Caught with Loaded, Unregistered Firearms in Daly City
DALY CITY, CA — A woman from Illinois was recently arrested in the Bay Area for the alleged possession of loaded and unregistered firearms.
According to a press release by the Colma Police Department, a Colma PD officer witnessed a vehicle, described as a white Mercedez-Benz, fail to completely stop for a red light at the intersection of Mission and eastbound San Pedro Road.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the driver. There were three other passengers in the vehicle as well, police said.
While speaking with the driver, the Colma PD officer allegedly noticed a recently burnt cannabis blunt on the center console, as well as the odor of freshly burnt cannabis.
All four occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. When the front passenger got out, the officer allegedly noticed a bottle of whiskey on the vehicle floor. The passenger also displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
The officer then searched the front passenger glove box and reportedly discovered two firearms, both loaded and unregistered. Authorities say the passenger admitted that the firearms belonged to her.
The suspect, identified as a 35-year-old resident of Bloomington, Illinois, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and carrying an unregistered firearm. She was booked at the San Mateo County jail.
