6 Dead, 12 Injured in Downtown Sacramento Shooting

A tragic shooting occurred on 10th and K Street in downtown Sacramento in the early morning hours of Sunday April 3, resulting in 6 deaths and at least 12 people injured from gunshots.

Around 2:00 a.m., reports of shots fired began coming in to law enforcement. A large group of people were gathered in the area. One video submitted to police appears to show an altercation between various individuals.

Three buildings and three automobiles were also struck by gunfire in a crime scene that spanned two city blocks. Over 100 spent casings were retrieved from the scene.

Although there appear to be multiple shooters, the Sacramento Police Department has made its first arrest – 26-year-old Dandrae Martin was arrested in relation to this shooting for assault and illegal firearms charges. He is listed as a “related suspect.”

Martin is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Jail. He also has an outstanding warrant from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and a 2014 conviction for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse. Martin also has 2018 convictions in Maricopa County, Arizona, for a count of criminal damage and a marijuana violation, as well as 2016 conviction of aggravated assault and domestic violence by impeding breathing, according to online records in Phoenix

Sacramento District Attorney Anna Marie Schubert said, “This individual has not been arrested for any homicide related to this incident. The investigation is highly complex involving many witnesses, videos of numerous types and significant physical evidence. This is an ongoing investigation and we anticipate more arrests in this case. Our ethical obligations as prosecutors prevents us from commenting about the specifics of the case. We will be reviewing the evidence provided to our office and making a determination of what, if any, charges are appropriate. If charges are filed, the complaint will be released to the public.”

Information about 3 of the 6 victims reveals that they also have numerous prior arrests for crimes ranging from evasion, gang activity, parole violation, hit and run, warrants, robbery, vandalism, drug possession, drugs sales, firearms and weapons offenses, and even attempted homicide.

Victim 1 – Sergio Harris

Vicitm 2 – Devazia Turner

Victim 3 – Joshua Hoye

The two 21 year old female victims appear to have no previous criminal record. Victim Linda Davis (57)  appears to have been a homeless individual who slept on the sidewalk in the area and tragically was killed in the crossfire.

As the investigation continues, authorities ask for help from anyone with additional information.

“The Sacramento Police Department encourages any witnesses with information regarding these investigations to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
