Man Arrested 38 Times – Now in Custody for Vehicle Theft and Attempted Robbery

SAN RAFAEL — Jason Armstrong certainly is one of the usual suspects. This 33-year-old resident of San Rafael has been arrested 38 times since 2013. Armstrong is presently housed at Marin County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and another attempted robbery.

Armstrong was arrested this time in the Terra Linda district on March 14 at 8:25 a.m. He was nabbed outside Wells Fargo Bank at 600 Las Gallinas Avenue, sitting in a parked pickup truck reported stolen.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person outside the bank. They determined that Armstrong was a suspect in an attempted robbery on Grand Avenue one day earlier. Sitting inside the old pickup truck only made matters worse.

Moreover, Armstrong has several prior convictions, and he was on supervised probation. His latest charges are for attempted robbery, vehicle theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also faces revocation of his probation.

Including his most recent arrest, Armstrong has been arrested five times in 2022. His other arrests this year involved hit and run, and vandalism incidents during February and March.

Armstrong was arrested 12 times during 2021. These arrests were for battery, carrying a concealed firearm, grand theft, possession of controlled substances, among other offenses.

Armstrong has been arrested 11 times for possession of controlled substances. He also has prior arrests for robbery, identification theft, credit card fraud, vehicle theft, and hit and run.
