“ANTIOCH — Masaiyah A. Sharp, 18 of Antioch, is being held in lieu of $455,000 bond, after his second arrest this year. Sharp allegedly committed seven strong-arm robberies in Antioch and Pittsburg.

Victims had their purses robbed at shopping centers during January and February. Two of the victims were elderly women in their 80s. One elder was knocked to the ground and injured during a struggle with the suspect.

A younger woman was robbed while her child was present. Her 5-year-old daughter has sincesuffered emotional trauma because of the robbery.

Officers and detectives from Antioch and Pittsburg collaborated and developed several leads involving a suspect with a similar description.

On February 20, an Antioch patrol officer responding to a call about a purse snatching located and arrested Sharp. Detectives took over the investigation, and Sharp was implicated in the additional robberies.

Sharp remains behind bars at the Martinez Detention Facility, with a court hearing scheduled for him on March 7.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple charges against Sharp. He faces seven counts of robbery, two counts of elder abuse, and one count of child abuse.

This is the second time Sharp has been in trouble with the law this year. In January, Antioch PD arrested him on suspicion of loitering with intent to engage in drug activity. In addition, he was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale, and resisting/obstructing an officer.”
