“SAN PABLO — A man recorded on surveillance cameras was arrested for allegedly committing an armed robbery. The robbery occurred at a restaurant as the lunchtime rush was winding down on June 8.

It seems a restaurant employee carrying cash from a nearby bank was followed by a man. Upon return from the bank, the employee was confronted at gunpoint in front of the restaurant.

The employee offered no resistance and the robber fled from the area, taking with him a bag full of cash. The employee was shaken but otherwise unharmed.

Detectives examined video recorded by surveillance cameras and were able to quickly identify the suspect. On June 9 at 1:30 a.m., a surveillance camera detected the vehicle used in the robbery returning to San Pablo.

Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants. However, the suspect was not among the occupants, who were subsequently released.

The vehicle was impounded as evidence and investigators continued looking for the robbery suspect. A K-9 unit was deployed to help to track him down.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Tyrone Ratliff, a resident of Richmond. Ratliff apparently attempted to elude officers, before he surrendered peacefully to the officer handling the police dog.

Ratliff was booked at county jail on robbery charges. Detectives also searched his residence and recovered evidence linking him to the crime.

Police are still looking for the gun used in this crime. Anyone with information concerning this case can call the San Pablo Police Department at 510-215-3150.”
