“On October 15th, 2021 at 5:00 P.M., Redding Police responded to the Sundial Bridge parking lot on a report of two pedestrians who were struck by a car. Witnesses described a prolonged verbal and physical altercation between 40-year-old Lawrence Williams against 18-year-old Kaden Metheny and 18-year-old Kaden Fritz.

Police determined the altercation spilled into the parking lot area of the Sundial Bridge. As Williams was leaving the area, he attempted to strike Metheny and Fritz and several others with his vehicle. The group was able to jump out of the way. Williams looped around for a second attempt and struck Metheny and Fritz. Both 18-year-olds were transported to the hospital with significant injuries. Officers were unable to locate Williams as he had fled the scene. Williams is known to police as he is on Parole for an armed robbery which occurred in Redding.

On 12/23/21, Detectives with the Redding Police Department concluded an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Williams charging him with two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On 1/7/22, Williams was located, arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail in Oregon. On 2/2/22, police personnel extradited Williams to Shasta County where he will face his most recent criminal charges.”
