A 19-year-old American Canyon man was recently arrested for the alleged use of marijuana while underage, during which he was also found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic weapon, according to police.

Around 10:30 PM on Thursday, January 20, an officer spotted a black sedan with its headlights on parked along the 800 block of Kimberly Drive. Upon running the plate and finding that the vehicle didn’t belong to anyone on Kimberly Drive, the deputy decided to make contact, in light of the high amount of recent catalytic converter thefts.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Kophere Patterson-Brown, reportedly admitted to having been using marijuana, driving the car, and also to be too young for recreational use under state law.

Upon a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a loaded .9mm black Taurus semi-automatic handgun which turned out to have been reported stolen out of Missouri. The officer also found baggies of marijuana, police said.

Patterson-Brown was ultimately booked at the Napa County Jail on felony firearm and stolen property charges and misdemeanor marijuana charges.
