“On January 16th at 4:30 a.m., a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 80 at the Penryn Road offramp.

The deputy identified the driver as 33-year-old Pheng Moua, and the passenger as 37-year-old Sue Vue, both from Fresno. The suspects admitted to having glass smoking pipes in their possession.

Deputies subsequently searched the vehicle and located numerous pieces of mail with Auburn addresses. During the investigation, deputies discovered the mailboxes on Mira Loma Drive and Arroyo Drive had been tampered with, resulting in four victims’ stolen mail.

Deputies later returned the mail to the victims’ mailboxes. Moua and Vue were arrested for identity theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moua was also charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and bringing a controlled substance into a correctional facility.

As we enter tax season, we remind you to be vigilant with your incoming mail to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft! If you’re leaving town, place a hold on your mail with your local post office.
