Fresno police arrest suspect in December 2021 murder, shooting

Fresno police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the December 2021 murder of 21-year-old Brandon Catano.

Catano was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of San Pablo and Divisadero in Fresno around 1 AM on Thursday, December 9. He was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe that the incident was the result of an altercation between several people at an apartment complex in the area, and soon identified 41-year-old Socorro Madrigal as the primary suspect, police said.

Madrigal was located and arrested on Tuesday, December 21, on suspicion of murder, as well as a separate charge of assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a second person he’d allegedly shot. The second victim survived, according to police.
