An ex-felon was arrested on several felony charges this past Saturday after officers found a loaded firearm and ammunition in his vehicle.

The suspect, 35-year-old Angel Prado of Ontario, faces “multiple felony charges that included being an… ex-felon gang member in possession of a firearm while on bail for a prior firearm charge,” according to the news release by Ontario police officials.

Deputies first observed a “vehicle code violation,” prompting a “proactive traffic stop,” near Hold Boulevard and Boulder Avenue.  Specifics on the violation were not provided.

Prado allowed deputies to search the vehicle, which led to the discovery of a .22 caliber firearm under the driver’s seat and ammunition in the trunk.  Prado was subsequently arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center.

“Despite the daily risks, OPD officers work proactively and diligently to keep criminals and firearms off the streets. Keeping our streets safe is our priority.”
