Police: Brandishing suspect exchanges gunfire with officers, later arrested with help of K9

Sacramento police have announced the arrest of a man who’d reportedly been seen brandishing a firearm and later exchanged gunfire with responding officers.

Around 9 AM on November 28, officers were called to the 6200 block of Lemon Hill Avenue to investigate reports of a man — later identified as 19-year-old Jacob Armada — brandishing a firearm at several people.

Responding officers located Armada in the second-floor breezeway of an apartment building and, as they approached, Armada allegedly opened fire, exchanging gunfire with officers. One officer was reportedly struck in the leg; the bullet had pierced his uniform pants but narrowly missed flesh, police said.

Though Armada managed to temporarily evade police, he was unable to escape the perimeter they’d established in the area, and was located again hiding in a trashcan, and ultimately taken into custody with the assistance of a police K9.

Armada was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of resisting officers and assaulting a police K9.
