A Merced County man has been arrested in connection to a recent alleged shooting and subsequent police pursuit.

On October 26, Los Banos police began investigating a reported shooting on the 2100 block of East Pacheco Boulevard and were able to quickly identify 27-year-old Isaac Perez, of Firebaugh, as the primary suspect. Perez had allegedly fired a shot at the 32-year-old victim, who was not injured.

On November 2, prepared with a warrant, officers on their way to locate and arrest Perez reportedly spotted him driving through downtown Firebaugh. Officers attempted a traffic stop but Perez fled, leading them on a vehicle pursuit all the way through parts of Merced and Fresno Counties.

In the Dos Palos area near Community Way, police say, Perez abandoned the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. A passenger who’d been riding with him, identified as 24-year-old Desirae Subega, moved to the driver’s seat and tried to flee the scene, but crashed the car about a block away, police said.

Both Perez and Subega were ultimately arrested and booked at the Los Banos PD jail.
