On October 19th, 2021 at approximately 5:46 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Munras Avenue regarding a report of an intoxicated female refusing to leave a business. When officers arrived, they observed Laura Brown, 34 years old of Salinas, strike a male in the face while standing in a parking lot. The male stated he did not know Brown, but that she had attempted to enter another person’s vehicle without permission and he intervened to stop her. The male declined to pursue charges against Brown.

Officers arrested Brown for 647(f) PC – public intoxication. Due to Brown’s intoxication level, Brown was transported to Natividad Medical Center for evaluation by medical staff. During the medical evaluation, Brown kicked an officer twice in the leg. When officers attempted to sit Brown in a police vehicle, Brown bit an officer on the forearm with enough force to cause a bite injury through two layers of clothing. Officers were able to secure Brown in the vehicle and she was booked into the Monterey County Jail. Brown was additionally charged with 243(c)(2) PC – felony battery on a peace officer resulting in injury. Brown’s bail was set at $10,000.
