“On Friday, September 10, 2021, at approximately 11:10 pm, Banning Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of Almond Way, in the City of Banning, County of Riverside, reference the report of a female being shot at the location.
Upon arrival, Officers contacted multiple subjects who resided at the location, including a 54- year-old female who had sustained a gunshot wound. The female was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to a local trauma hospital in stable condition.
Banning Patrol Officers were able to determine that the victim had been shot by a family member, who also resided at the location, during a domestic disturbance.
The Banning Police Department Detective Bureau was contacted and continued the investigation.
The investigation revealed that 18-year-old Alex Signavong was responsible for the shooting, and he was arrested for several violations.
During the investigation Detectives and Officers were able to locate the firearm believed to have been used in the crime and several other items, including parts to convert the weapon into a fully automatic weapon.
Signavong was later transported to the Larry Smith Correctional Facility, where he was booked for violation of two counts of 245(a)(2) PC – assault with a deadly weapon, 29800(a)(1) PC – convicted felon in possession of a firearm, 23900 PC – possession of an unregistered firearm, 12022.5(a) PC – use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, 16880(b) PC – possession of parts to convert weapon into fully automatic weapon, and 1203.2(a) PC – violation of probation.”
