Suspect Arrested for Theft and Violation of Probation

Originally published as a Petaluma Police Department Nixle post – 

“On the above date, a suspect entered the Petaluma High School campus and stole a backpack and computer from inside the gym.

The suspect was also seen entering the female bathrooms.  Officers were dispatched to the area, but the suspect had left.

Officers reviewed surveillance video from the campus and distributed the photos of the suspect to other Patrol officers.

At approximately 5:28 PM, an officer observed the suspect seen in the surveillance video in Putnam Plaza, in Downtown Petaluma.

The suspect, identified as Tyler Herrod, was contacted.  The suspect had the stolen items in his possession and admitted to the theft.

The suspect was arrested for grand theft and was also on probation.   The suspect was traveling on foot or a skateboard between Petaluma High and Downtown.

The suspect was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.  See attached photo of the suspect.”
